Rising Light is designated as a BRS Intensive Behavior Support (6) serving 8 high-risk, high-acuity girls between the ages of 13 and 17 with a focus on trauma-informed care, empowerment, self-care, and healing from all forms of exploitation. Staff are trained to work with all forms of exploitation including sexual abuse, exposure to sexualized environments, or suspected history of trafficking. Staff also specialize in self-harm and high-risk, self-defeating behaviors including running and mild drug use. We are a trauma-informed, therapeutic program, offering skill-building opportunities to our youth in a variety of capacities including anger management, emotional awareness, healthy communication, and impulse management. We also connect our youth with drug and alcohol treatment, mental health services, and education and employment opportunities.
The services and opportunities that we offer are to help our youth learn and develop skills that will ultimately set them up for success during and after their time in the program, leading to healthier, happier, safer lives in the community. Program completion expected in 12 to 18 months.
