Applicants Needed for the Douglas County Dog Advisory Control Board

(Douglas County, Ore.) The Douglas County Board of Commissioners are accepting applications for a volunteer position on the Douglas County Dog Advisory Control Board.  The Dog Advisory Control Board is a volunteer board working with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office – Animal Control Division.  


Currently, they are recruiting for the following position: 

  • 1 Position: Applicant must be directly or indirectly involved with the livestock industry.


The Douglas County Dog Advisory Control Board was created to serve as a volunteer advisory body with the authority to assist and advise the Board of Commissioners, as well as the Sheriff’s Office. Meetings are held quarterly in March, June, September & December.  The Dog Advisory Control Board shall have the authority and duty to:

  • Serve as an advisory board to the Sheriff regarding the appointment or removal of the supervisor.
  • Review and recommend enactment of policies and rules for the operation of the agency.
  • Review and make recommendations on the annual budget of the department as prepared by the supervisor for submission to the Board of Commissioners and the Budget Committee.
  • Hear all claims by owners of livestock under ORS 609.170 through 609.190.


Citizens residing in Douglas County who possess the specified qualifications and are interested in serving on this board, are urged to submit an application to the Douglas County Board of Commissioners.
